The guest will not be allowed to participate in the hole-in-one or closest to the pin events.
WCSGA Rules of Golf
WCSGA tournaments are played according to USGA Rules, as modified by WCSGA Local Rules of Play. All players are responsible to know all the rules. The WCSGA Local Rules of Golf can be viewed in the Main Links section. Any disputes of the rules will be brought to the attention of the Tournament Director or his committee for final resolution.
Tournament Schedule and Cost
WCSGA tournaments are played on every other Thursday of the month. The WCSGA Tournament Schedule is posted in the Main Links section. The Tournament Fee, currently $36, is payable as a single payment to the Watters Creek Pro Shop. The payment includes green fee, $5 for tournament prize fund, a free fountain soda or draft beer, as well as free range balls.
Choose Your Tee and Have More Fun
To provide all members with an enjoyable tournament experience, WSGA provides the opportunity to play from three different tee boxes – White, Gold and Red. This option will let the member decide the level of difficulty he may want to play. After establishing a handicap, the member will be given one opportunity per year to change Tee Boxes, which will be approved by the Vice President/Tournament Director. For example, should a member, who plays from the White Tees, decide he wants to play from the Gold Tees, he will request such change from the WCSGA VP. Any further requests for tee box change will require Board approval. For more information on playing from various tee boxes, see “Play from Various Tee Boxes” in the Main Links section.
General Tournament Procedures and Management
Effective January 1, 2018, tournaments will be managed with extensive support from Watters Creek officials utilizing the USGA Tournament Management Golf Genius System. WCSGA will use Golf Genius software to simplify tournament signup and will provide tee sheets (pairings) which can be viewed on the Golf Genius website. Tournaments will be flighted based on the total number of players. The maximum number in a flight will be 25.
Upon completion of play, scorecards will be turned in to Watters Creek officials who will check scores and post scores to the system. The system will calculate winners of each flight and the dollar amount won. Tournament results will be available for viewing on the Golf Genius website immediately upon completion of play. Tournament Results and Winners will also be posted on the WCSGA website following each tournament.
Player Account Balance
The system will credit winnings to the member’s account balance. The member account balance is a non-expiring amount that can be used for green fees, tournament fees ($5), range balls and pro-shop merchandise. The earnings, however, cannot be used in the restaurant — just in the golf shop. Also, winnings cannot be collected in the form of cash or check, however, a pro-shop gift card may be issued.
All balances will be available by contacting the pro shop, either in person or by phone, or by e-mailing Matt Sipko at firstname.lastname@example.org.
The WCSGA gives members several options for tournament signup. The easiest method for tournament signup is to respond to the Watters Creek Golf Genius e-mail sent to each member prior to a tournament. Simply click on the options “Playing” or “Not Playing”. Your choice will be recorded by the Golf Genius website and you will receive a confirmation e-mail indicating your choice. Another option for tournament signup is to go to the WCSGA Golf Genius website and sign up there. The website can be reached by clicking on Golf Genius Portal hot link below.
Although discouraged, members also have the option of signing up by telephoning the Watters Creek golf shop at 214.509.4653.
The WCSGA Handicap System is an automated, closed system, that is maintained by the Handicap Chairman. After each tournament, the Handicap Chairman will enter the new scores into the WCSGA Handicap System and calculate updated handicaps which will be posted on the website.
All new members must establish a valid WCSGA handicap. There are two ways to establish a handicap. The new player can provide an Index from either the Plano Senior Men’s Golf Association (PSMGA) or the Ridgeview Ranch Senior Golf Association (RRSGA), from which a WCSGA handicap can be calculated.
The other method for establishing a handicap is for the new player to play three rounds under the Callaway scoring/handicapping system. Scores from the first two rounds will be double entered, while the score from the third round will be single entered, for a total of five scores required for a handicap. All subsequent scores will be single entered.
After each tournament, the Handicap Chairman will enter the new scores into the WCSGA Handicap System and calculate updated handicaps which will be posted on the website.
Closest to the Pin
Tournament participants, who play from the white and gold tees, will have the option of entering into the Closest to the Pin (CTP) side game. There are two CTP groups, based on handicap — a Low Handicap Group and a High Handicap Group. The two groups may be split at handicaps 15 – 17, to better balance the number in each group.
It’s the sole responsibility of the participant to enter his name onto the correct Group sheet. Handicaps can be checked with the person manning the Side Games table, a WCSGA Officers or as posted on the website. Callaway players must sign up in the Low Group.
Winners are paid out in cash immediately after the tournament. Any errors or misunderstandings will be addressed by WCSGA Officers to achieve fairness to all players.
For details of WCSGA Policy on the subject, see Closest to the Pin Policy, in the Main Links section.
Hole In One (HIO)
WCSGA provides members the opportunity to compete for Hole-In-One (HIO) prize money. The fee to enter is $1, payable in cash at the Side Games table. The amount in the HIO account, as of the last tournament, is prominently posted on the website. Winners are paid by the WCSGA Treasurer by check. Details of the WCSGA HIO policy are posted in the Main Links section.
